FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about sessions, fees, confidentiality and getting started.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy, understand your current difficulties and discuss what you would like to achieve. There is no expectation that you share everything immediately, and we will work at a pace that feels comfortable.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

Yes. I offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory consultation for new clients. This provides an opportunity to ask questions, discuss your needs and explore whether working together would be appropriate.

Do you offer online or face-to-face appointments?

Pathways Clinical Psychology currently offers online therapy appointments for adults. This allows you to access sessions from a suitable private space.

How long is a therapy session?

Individual online therapy sessions last 55 minutes.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual therapy sessions cost £105 per 55-minute appointment.

How do I pay for sessions?

Payments are made securely online through Stripe. You will receive a payment link ahead of your appointment, allowing you to pay conveniently using a debit or credit card.

Payment is required before each session.

Do you accept private medical insurance?

If you are planning to fund therapy through private medical insurance, please get in touch with details of your provider. We can discuss whether your policy can be used and any authorisation requirements before arranging treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs, the difficulties you are experiencing and your goals for therapy. We can discuss this during the initial assessment and review it together as therapy progresses.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is treated confidentially.

There are some circumstances where information may need to be shared, including serious concerns about your safety or someone else's safety, safeguarding concerns, or legal obligations.

Where possible, I will discuss this with you beforehand.

I also attend regular clinical supervision as part of professional practice. Any client information discussed during supervision is anonymised.

Do I need a diagnosis to access therapy?

No. You do not need a formal mental health diagnosis to seek psychological support. People access therapy for many reasons, including emotional distress, life changes, relationship difficulties and a desire to better understand themselves.

How are online appointments conducted?

Appointments take place using a secure video platform. You will need a private and confidential space where you can attend sessions without interruption.

Can I arrange appointments around work or family commitments?

Online appointments are available at selected times, including some evenings and weekends. Please get in touch to discuss current availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full session fee.

If I need to cancel an appointment, you will not be charged, and an alternative appointment will be offered where possible.

How do I get started?

Simply get in touch to arrange a complimentary introductory consultation. We can discuss your needs, answer questions and consider the next steps.
